The original onDigital boxes were provided to viewers free of charge as part of their onDigital subscription fee. When the service went bankrupt, creditors tried to charge 40 GBP to viewers or force them to return the boxes, but in the end the viewers were allowed to keep them gratis.

If the UK goes to 8K and obsoletes these boxes, nobody is out any money.

In the UK, the first tough nut is to move from 2K to 8K COFDM. That
obsoletes all the original ONdigital boxes, I believe. And after HD is
introduced, in Europe, if they should ever want to quit simulcasting SD
and HD, that will create another upheaval.

You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways:

- Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org
- By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word 
unsubscribe in the subject line.
