It was the reality the last time we argued about this. But we agree things are

First off, according to previous articles, streaming TV is at least as 
popular as using a DVR for time shifting, if not more so. According to this 
article, streaming was more popular that DVR use.

This article says DVR use was 53% of time shift viewing, and online was 47% 
of time shift viewing, and that was 1 1/2 years ago.

But only for certain age groups like Millenials.

But oops, Craig, things are changing fast. Here's an article from the end of 
June 2016. I wouldn't be too surprised if they miscounted DVR use, or maybe 
they mean strictly in-system DVR as opposed to at-home PVR, but either way, 
your reality is quite far from the reality. This article talks about overall 
media consumption, it looks like, not just TV per se.

So it's now slightly in favor of streaming now. Again it depends on the 
demographic group.

Do the numbers. And pay attention that they give hours and minutes, so you 
have to convert to hours to do the percentages.

If you subtract time spent listening to radio and watching DVDs, you get, 
according to this one, that adults watch 8.65 hours of video daily, 52.3% of 
which is "live TV." And that number is declining. But don't jerk your knee 
just yet.

The DVR number is tiny. Adults only use DVRs for 6.2% of their video viewing 
time on average. Again, I bet that this is in-system DVR service, and that 
"live" viewing includes use of a PVR for time shifting. Still, that just 
reduces use of linear viewing, that makes no substantial difference to your 
assertion that 70% is time shifted via DVR.

According to this most recent article, people are streaming a whopping 47.7% 
of their total daily video consumption, which is what I've been telling you 
for months now. Remember? I said that about 1/2 of daily consumption of video 
was streaming online?

Only some age groups.

It also says that PC use is rising, although it says "tablets" are rising 
even faster. As of now, PC and tablet use are about the same. But again, 
these numbers by device are always suspect. For instance, where are the 
streaming boxes listed?

One would expect all devices to rise as we move to streaming services. 

I think that they are calling the streaming boxes "multimedia device." I am 
suspect of these stats, as they are very different than other studies we have 
looked at. 

With things changing so fast and the use of "sponsored studies" it is not 
unexpected to see widely varying stats...
