Even this response doesn't make any sense, Craig. Obviously, anyone with the mandate to create nationwide TV networks would have more, not less, of a good excuse to create a wide area SFN. If they don't need to create small market contours, what is the downside of installing large area SFNs??

The downside is that creating ubiquitous coverage with these SFNs is a much more expensive proposition than the techniques they are using (small area SFNs at most, then translators). Need I quote you verbatim what the French say on this topic, again? The reason they do not go for these large area SFNs is that they acknowledge that the propaganda of the past was just that.

I'd like to see the tests of synchronized SFNs with 8-VSB, just out of curiosity. There should not be a big difference between making these work well with COFDM or with 8-VSB, although COFDM at 1/8 GI does provide more echo tolerance than 8-VSB 5th gen receivers.
