[JS]" Huh ? Is this a true declaration of (format) war ? Ease of copying is probably the last thing that the content providers want.=20 And what good is copying when there is no content ?=20 Regards,=20 -- Jeroen" Actually most of the content providers strongly favor "Managed Copy" as an integral feature of the content protection system (which has been adopted by both camps). If they don't offer a legal and "fair use" alternative that enables consumers to enjoy their content where and when they want it, then: 1. Consumers will vote with their feet and they won't have a new format, or 2. Consumers and hackers will go to the trouble of doing it illegally, like they do with DeCSS now, which results in totally uncontrolled and unfair use. But, the consumer has to know what uses are OK, and trust they'll get what they paid for. BD added an additional layer of content protection that allows every publisher to write their own control program that can override the standard offer. That could lead to some discs/publishers not supporting Managed Copy, HD resolution, PC playback, etc.; which would result in some confused and angry consumers probably faulting the playback systems "that don't work".
