So? The unjoin filtered back to the server can pause the multicast
transmission. What makes you think that a multicast session just 'plays
out' no matter what? Its just a socket. By the same principle, what
makes you think that pausing a unicast session will leave the transmit
and receive sockets open indefinitely? They will close, and be
re-opened/initiated after the receiver sends an OOB request back to
resume playback. With one vs. the other it is actually simpler and less
effort from a system point of view to deliver everything as multicast.
