You keep telling us that tablets are DEAD!
But even IDC says otherwise:
The research organization expects global tablet market to rebound in 2018 as
"Windows opens door for growth" and Apple Inc.'s "iPads come out of a slump."
Doesn't sound like a dying market segment to me.
More or less trends we have seen discussed elsewhere. That Windows 10 will
gain market share in tablets, where tablets include such devices as the
Surface Pro, is not surprising. That's where laptops are going. Call them
whatever you like, they are in effect laptops, with PC style OS.
Yes, I'm sure you find it reassuring that the market for 2in1 devices will grow!
If their stats are correct, they are telling us that Microsoft will ship about
15 million Surface tablets this year, and that that number could grow to more
than 30 million by 2020.
Could be enough to offset the overall decline in PC sales...
A continuing drop in slate tablets is also not unexpected.
Yes, for this year. But they tell us the tablet market will rebound in 2018.
Now we need to see if they are right. Their track record in forecasting has
been abysmal.
