They know your IP address and can use the same techniques that allow an
iPod Touch to determine your location, so they know your zip code. That
alone is enough to dramatically increase the value of the ad placement.
We are finding a similar effect in cable advertising.

Fewer ads per break is also a factor, as you point out.
