That US network news report on the Sears christmas catalog of 1979 sporting the SA Homeview system on its cover, this was a freebie for an Californian Ranger, in exchange for the publicity, this report seems to be now unfindable on youtube. It has been on
there for years. This was California! Quoting Cliff Benham <flyback1@xxxxxxxxxxx>:
The scenario depicted in this piece does not work unless the viewer lives in orvery close to a large metropolitan area. I live 39 miles from Philadelphia and52 miles from the Baltimore transmitters. I had to install two 12 element antennas to receive Lo-VHF and Hi-VHF signals, and a 7 foot parabolic reflector UHF antenna to get all the others. Each antenna has it's own mast mounted preamp. Each antenna preamp feeds it's own separate HD converter box. There is a Tivo and several router switchers that allow complete flexibility of signal viewing. This was an expensive one time purchase 10 years ago, but it continues to provide high quality free viewing from three different television markets. The idea that good TV reception is obtainable everywhere with a single indoor antenna is a myth the promotions people continue to spread. It's just not so.
