Over the air transmission of NTSC is compression, too.

Tim is an engineer for the Reno PBS, and his tagline of "Compression Is 
Evil" is infamous on the internal PBS Connect boards.  Nothing you can 
possibly say to him will make him change his mind on that point.

Funny, though, when I point out to him that interlace is compression too, 
he's all for it because 1080i is "Real HD" while 720p is not.
