So Bert, how does Adobe get all of this data?
By searching out servers that maintain these statistics, Craig. Not by
snooping everyone's broadband link. If the information is available,
unencrypted, in servers "in the cloud," anyone can find it.
And how do the servers they "search out" gather the data?
Take a look at the business model for CMO and the Adobe Digital Initiative.
Clue, they do not search out...they contract with the companies that operate
all kinds of servers to access and analyze the data. For example, that is how
they are able to provide the detailed statistics about usage of OTT video
services, including TVE.
On the other hand, since Adobe is not an ISP, it would have a much more
difficult time reading your emails.
There is very little value in reading people's e-mails. WAAAAAY too much data
to process for minimal ROI. On the other hand, tracking where you shop and what
you are looking at has major value to advertisers.
Regards
Craig
