What is going on Bert is that most everyone's pet system is COFDM based.
That those in the process of actually choosing a system to use today,
China for one, are so dismissive of 8-VSB as to question the sanity of
someone even bringing up the subject.

While here in the US we not only discuss it daily we actually use it.

Or are attempting to.

The default on XM and Sirius is to look for the terrestrial signal
first. Most of their customers are receiving a COFDM signal. If you see
a map of XM's terrestrial repeaters they are all over a city like New
York. IMO their satellites are just an excuse to have a terrestrial
digital radio network that would never have been approved if it was
originally presented as such.

If satellite worked they would not have to have terrestrial repeaters
and if they really wanted something to work satellite isn't it. Driving
west from Milwaukee the line of trees to your left will kill XM all the
way to Minneapolis. It is not just the cities where buildings and
bridges stop the satellite signal, the countryside is filled with such
obstacle.

Talking true mobile its really just a terrestrial system in my book.
