I was a bit surprised myself. And it isn't that they just stopped supporting Flash; it has literally been removed from the Droid OS and now a big exclamation mark replaces the flash player. I assume they are pushing for HTML5 based playback, which, of course, means the requirement for more file formats to cover different devices and browsers. One must have at least 3 versions of a program to make it accessible to most devices. So we were in the process of updating to Flash Media Streamer 4.5 so that we could stream to Droids an iDevices. However, it appears that the promise by Adobe of FMS 4.5 streaming to Android devices is a broken one and we have wasted our money on the purchase. I think we might consider another media streaming server application. We also were going to develop an app. for iDevices and make it available on the iStore. We tried getting the SDK from Apple but they wanted a copy of our business license and articles of incorporation. How do you get that for a state run university? We tried and got all kinds of people involved, including our legal department. Turns out that someone at the university has already registered UNLV and Apple won't release information on the registering party to anyone, including the Director of Office Information Technology. So now we must go through the lawyers. This might be an unusual case but the fact is, getting the SDK and an app in the iStore is not open process. Dan
