Yes, it is similar to IP multicast, also in the sense that the user equipment
needs a two-way interface to join the desired group. And the cell system
dynamically determines whether eMBMS is more efficient than separate unicast
sessions, based on membership.

Once broadcasters jump into the deep end, building a two-way wireless
infrastructure, the all sorts of new possibilities open up. The biggest
limitation as of now is the one-way broadcast nature of the medium.
