Trade out your twisted pair for coax and you may find more stations/services are available. I too have cable into the home (minimum basic service is almost free with internet), but an antenna in the air. In our neighborhood (which we share with many deer, squirrels, foxes and other wildlife), power outages are the biggest hindrance (and we have a whole-house generator). It is not unusual to have friends, neighbors and family 'drop by' when the power is out to spend time to visit... and watch TV. Cal. My IT and DTV infrastructure had a partial meltdown I thought. BUT it wasn't inside my house; it was up on the poles in the cable company's right of way. (You have no choice in this area.) BUT I have a big Yagi on my roof with a clear line of sight directly to Mount Wilson. This being an old Spanish style house I was able to place the Radio Shack monster very low on one part where the roof is flat so my neighbors cannot see it at all. I also have a monster DA in the attic which feeds every TV in the house with a great deal of both analog and digital redundancy. Using the remotes I can get anything on a separate input. Even the kitchen where we watch the news. When the cable guy came out for the service call he told me a few things. First was that this whole part of So. Cal. went down. Second was that he/they were very sorry. Next he said that most everyone in this area had bought into their package plan so they ALL lost TV, telephone AND Internet. No emergency calls possible. Losing my Internet was horrifying. But living in earthquake country I will always keep my Yagi and twisted pair hard line. Oh yeah, he also said they can sniff your STB remotely to drive their stats. They have a back door to see what you watch. ---- Tom McMahon Del Rey +1-310-717-7208 Mobile TLM@xxxxxxxxxx WWW.LinkedIn.Com/in/McMahonTV b‹œju I@R úèšØ^:—§ 5eŠËbžÜ(Á¬¬Rȧ‚Ø^PÔ” ‘ ¢išØ§Ê‹«ºÇ«r‰ßŠ «jبžÇ¶)౫Eç‹ŠËl¢¸Êǧv)àjg¬±¨¶Š)zwm¾·ª¹ë-~·ž–+-²ŠàÂ+a¶°¢·nžË›±Êâm觶¬¹¸ÞrÙb
