Is that known to be true? I can't seem to find anything relevant. Most links
only talk about coexistence.
I haven't seen this stated explicitly, but why else bother, given that WiFi
offload, even for voice calls, and obviously for Internet service over 4G, is
already available?
Like I said, perhaps the only measure needed, to stop this freebie spectrum
grab, would have been for the FCC to forbid the owners of licensed spectrum
from charging for bits sent over LTE-U. It would have taken the wind out of
those sails in a hurry, is my bet. It's pretty hard to believe that the telcos
would be busily installing LTE-U for free bits to customers!!
Tom Wheeler might have been the head of NCTA. But we didn't see him in a hurry
to do their bidding quite this anxiously, eh?
