I think very few people living more than a few miles from the transmitter will listen to it
because their receivers won't be able to pick it up.

It is unclear if existing HD radio receivers would work if you
fundamentally change the design and use all f the spectrum assigned
to a station for digital service.

That's been in the standard all along, so unless HD Radio manufacturers have
been cutting corners, it's supposed to work.

Makes me wonder if the manufacturers ewally wanted to build an HD receiver that will actually work or if they simply threw something together so they could say there are HD radios available
for consumers to buy.
