[opendtv] Re: FCC on digital translators

Now, you've confused a "proposal" with actual rules.  Some of us have been
waiting for this for quite some time, but this isn't FCC "on" something,
it's the FCC "asking" something.

It will be interesting to comment and see what the other comments are on
this NPRM.

It's not particularly odd to permit operation at 100 and 1000 w ERP; it will
give digital LPTVs a leg up, and are unlikely to cause much interference.
It will mean, if implemented, that full-service stations will be much more
vigilant about DTV applications from Class A stations.

52-59 is a different matter.

Digital translators and LPTV stations will also be able to operate on
Channels 52-59, in addition to the core channels.
 
And it looks like, they can operate at the same power levels as the analog
service they replace? How odd.
