Do not confuse Table 3 (rejected by the FCC in any case) with HDTV in 
general.  Table 3 says 1080i has 1920 active samples per line, but the 
most popular professional HD recorder, Sony's HDCAM, records just 1440 
(in luma; just 480 in color-difference).  Table 3 is compression 
constraints, not displays.
