Quoting the salient part:
"Pai's aggressive pursuit of net-neutrality repeal contradicted his previous
stated position that 'a dispute this fundamental is not for us, five
unelected individuals, to decide. Instead, it should be resolved by the
people's elected representatives, those who choose the direction of
government, and those whom the American people can hold accountable for that
choice.'
"Not only did the FCC not defer to a Congressional vote on net neutrality,
polls have shown that more than eighty percent of the U.S. public oppose
Pai's pro-ISP position. The controversy only got worse when it was discovered
that the FCC's public comment process was infiltrated by unknown hackers.
This is a prime example of the bias.
Pai has clearly called upon Congress to do its job. And the vast majority of
“fake” or irrelevant comments came from the opposition to Pai., not supporters.
"The FCC was flooded with fake comments, mostly supporting Pai, ..."
Regardless, out of 22 million comments, some 2 million were fake, and those
favored the Chairman. Gee, I wonder why he prevented the FCC from analyzing
the comments at all? In 2015, the FCC received 4 million comments. Then this
Chairman did the unthinkable, merely 2 years later, and received 22 million
comments. Does he really not get it? People give a damn about this.
Pai did not prevent the FCC from analyzing the comments; at the proceeding it
ws noted that staff did review all comments; but it is worth noting that the
vast majority of comments were irrelevant, as they did not address the issues
in the NPRM.
The more one reads about this fiasco, the more corrupt and crooked this
Chairman comes across. And no, there are few issues as important to the
telecoms than that they be guaranteed to be neutral. It's utterly
unacceptable for an FCC Chairman to be oblivious of this, assuming
"oblivious" is as innocent as his condition is.
The more the Net Neutrality proponents lie and spread fear and doubt about this
issue, the less credible they become.
How many of these yahoos are concerned that the big monopoly Edge Providers are
censoring news and blocking speech they doop not agree with? It is highly
likely that these folks are one and the same as those who seek to block free
speech on college campuses and the public commons…
I just made a rare trip to the theater to see “The Darkest Hour.” The situation
in Great Britain at the time Continental Europe fell to Hitler and Musollini
has significant parallels with the current mess in this country. The "British
Swamp” was anxious to cut a deal with Hitler, assuming that they could escape
the enslavement of Europe and use of concentration camp labor to produce the
weapons used against them, to wage the war.
I was not aware of the role that the King played in this story. When faced with
the very real possibility of having to flee to Canada to run his kingdom in
exile, he gave his support to Churchll, and suggested he talk to the people. In
the end Churchill went to the people to get their input…and their support.
History has a way of repeating itself. Sadly, after Churchill saved the
country, he was thrown out, and Great Britain sunk into the same socialist
morass as the rest of “Free Europe.” It is quite informative to see the
contrast between Western Europe today, and the people of Eastern Europe who
were freed from government oppression when the Soviet Union fell.
But the most interesting aspect of going to the theater to see this movie was
the transformation of the theater itself. The entire Cineplex has been
remodeled, installing very comfortable motorized recliners; this appears to
have reduced the audience capacity of each theater by at least HALF, if not
more. This may be the most significant improvement in the cinematic experience
since the move to 4K digital projection. FWIW, it is yet another example of the
seemingly desperate attempts by Hollywood to hold onto a rapidly declining
audience.
For every Millennial Net Neutrality yahoo out there, there are still millions
of Americans who understand how and why America became the one country the
world can depend on to protect liberty and freedom.

Craig
