There isn't much analog satellite programming left. Most of the channels are fed to cable headends via DVB-S. There's where the macroblocking occurs, even on the analog tier of cable service.

I've seen digital artifacts (macroblocking) on more than one channel on
analog Cox Cable San Diego.  I suspect that analog is extracted from
digital.
