This recent article:

scolti_della_TDT.html

says that the uptake of DTT in Italy, as of April 2008, is 4.8 percent
of households. These are households with at least one DTT decoder or
integrated set.

But in Sardegna, where they have been shutting off four analog channels,
by "county," DTT households are up to 42.4 percent.

(Italy has heavy OTA viewership. Something around 75 percent of
households.)

I believe that the reason DTT uptake is low still is the same as it was
here. OTA viewers do not get a whole lot more choice by going to DTT, so
there isn't the incentive to make the transition, until analog channels
start being dropped. That was also the experience in Berlin.
