All the telcos care about in this case is getting the subsidies from

The rate floor is a way to NOT overuse that USF, Craig. It is a way to ensure
that rural customers pay a fair share of the increased cost entailed in
providing them service. The telcos have to make it work, using in part the USF
and in part the actual customer contributions.
If the FCC has reason to believe that the cost floor should be lowered, without
demanding more money from non-rural subscribers, then the FCC should make
*THAT* case. As said, abolishing the rate floor is just another silly
formula-think move, from people so lost in political slogans that they can't
think straight. There is zero reason to believe that the telcos will charge
rural customers less, Craig.
That under Title II the FCC is able to address the needs of "a tiny
number of special interests?"
By abolishing Title II classification for broadband, that is exactly what the
FCC is doing. They are promoting "Internet freedom" ... for the tiny number of
special interests, giving them the freedom to block any web site that they
don't like, any that conflict with their own self-interests. There is no other
LOGICAL way of deciphering this new slogan.
When has the FCC ever done anything but protect special interests
Bert?
When they mandated the neutrality of Internet service, Craig. Once again, it
seems to take a long time to get the most obvious points across. The reason the
special interests oppose neutrality, Craig, is that it conflicts with their own
business model, a business model which is legacy of their past. That's why they
oppose neutrality, Craig.
