In my search for an HD Radio stereo tuner, the search that finally
discovered the Sangean HDT-1 unit, I also contacted NAD Electronics.
They currently sell a combined AM/FM/DAB tuner,

but no HD Radio tuner in the works yet, from what I was told. For the US
market, they only offer an analog AM/FM tuner.

Their claim was that the HD Radio silicon had not yet reached the price
point they were looking for. I wanted to suggest that they just buy the
Sangean and repackage it.

I'm still unclear why DAB is having a hard time of it. Also, in
principle, there's nothing to prevent DAB and HD Radio to coexist, and
combined AM/FM/DAB/HD Radio tuners from being built. It does seem like a
waste of spectrum, but there's no technical problem that I can think of.
