They are ignored because, other than the Spanish language networks, the audiences, and thus the revenues generated, are inconsequential. Few if any are generating profits, but that's O.K. because they are getting a free ride thanks to a profitable channel in the multiplex.

What you DO NOT see in the charts, are the networks that account for more than 50% of all TV viewing, carried by the MVPDs.

And ine more thing...

There is no reason to believe that broadcasters cannot deliver 30-50 channels in half of the spectrum they now occupy. If all of these specialty and DTV channels can survive now, there will be capacity to deliver them after the real DTV transition...
