I agree.  The whole sense of this is wrong.

The bottom feeders are the people who are paying MSO/telco sources to watch programs filled with commercials because they are status seekers trying to outdo their neighbors by bragging about how much they spend every month for programs, many of which they could receive for free with an antenna.

BUT paying MSO/telco sources for TV programs is part of the status thing as well, by not having to put an ugly metal pole with "bird perches" attached near the top, high above the roof line of their lovely suburban stucco and vinyl covered homes.
