Better look at those Neilsen ratings you keep talking about. I think you will find that what you wrote above is NOT true. The entire audience for those few broadcasts channels RARELY creeps above 50% of U.S. homes, and this includes all of those laggards who DO NOT subscribe to cable or DBS.

Nobody watches hundreds of channels. Most people watch 10-12 on a regular basis, although in a home with multiple TVs the 10-12 will vary for each family member.
