Hilarious. So, without a neutrality guarantee, from your local Internet
broadband access provider, reasonable people would expect a huge reduction in
monthly fees and a "level playing field for new businesses"? Wow. Exactly the
opposite. Just take a peek at legacy cable TV realities, to see how much
sense that makes.
Anyway, too many false premises kind of make this exercise too laborious.
Yes, this author is terribly confused.
I think Bert completely missed his pitch. The author was STRONGLY pushing for a
neutrality guarantee as we transition to “Ambient Connectivity,” his code words
for the government taking over the infrastructure, as it does today with “most”
highways.
But he completely ignores the fact that the infrastructure and its operations
are not free. He left out the most important point - the new taxes to subsidize
such a service. And who would pay them since there would no longer be telecom
and cable cash cows to tax? Obviously, the services would be taxed...and
regulated.
