I do not think it is bad. I think it is absurd and irrelevant.
Don't be disingenuous, Craig. When you use words like "negative," you show
your true colors. So explain what it is that you find negative, when TV
becomes easier and more pleasant to watch, and never mind more competitive,
with more options to choose from.
No. I am commenting about YOUR true colors.
You are the one constantly claiming that live linear TV is dying and is
unnecessary. THAT is going negative.
I have constantly challenged you, claiming that streaming is complementary and
that the market will continue to support live linear services including OTA
Broadcast, MVPD and VMVPD, alongside VOD and SVOD services. That is NOT going
negative (well, maybe negative on you... ;-)
Oh really? And yet, you tell us that that we are decades away from having
enough bandwidth for Internet TV?
I have never said DECADES Bert. I have said we're not there yet. I have said it
could take a decade or longer before everyone shifts from existing TV
distribution systems to the Internet.
Given the fact that most of the wired/FIOS MVPDs will be offering gigabit
broadband options - alongside their TV services - I don't think capacity issues
are stopping many people from moving to streaming, if they want to.
And never mind that 100% of US homes are not yet connected to broadband.
Freeing up this bandwidth is the easy way to get everyone plugged in, Craig.
It's not JUST so Craig can brag about how fast his service measured last
night.
Most of the homes that are not connected, or connected with slow services like
you, are either in rural areas, choose not to pay more, or are unable to afford
the service.
Regards
Craig
