Nor is anyone craving it in their living room, save except for a few Japanese engineers and people who see no problem dropping $100,000 on a tv st. If a 100" screen provides the ability to fully use 1080, UHDTV would only be efficient in arenas. In this article, they do not mention the target bitrate, but another article (http://www.bulletins-electroniques.com/actualites/42952.htm, a french translation of a japanese text) mentions a 1/100 to 1/200 compression factor. With UHDTV native bitrate at 26 Gbps or so, it would mean130 Mbps in the most favorable case. That pushes the numerology even more. Would 1080p not appear as a mild and affordable thing in comparison ? :-) In case someone is wondering, i am NOT craving for UHDTV in my living room. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
