Hello, Somebody over here has found an HD version of the Matrix Reloaded, and it was in 16:9 aspect ratio without black bars. Interestingly, the same movie on DVD is also in (anamorphic) 16:9, but with two black bars, so the actual aspect ratio is 2.35:1 (or something close to that). And after comparing the video contents it turns out that the 2.35:1 version has less content on the top and bottom, instead of more content on the left and right. Now, why would they do that ? Why would they deliberately replace valid content with black bars ? Is 2.35:1 the content as the director had intended it ? And if yes, then why isn't the HD version also 2.35:1 ? I would assume that the movie theaters have shown 2.35:1. Why does a/any full 16:9 version even exist then, if the 2.35:1 is more "cinephile", and good enough for an SD DVD ??
