[opendtv] Re: Apple TV streaming service still to come and could cost $40 a month - MarketWatch

It was a BIG IF.

But it also depends on several assumptions that may or may not be valid.

1. The cost of broadband is not included. I'm paying about $125 for 25 mbps
broadband, the extended basic digital service, and a HD STB with DVR. Take away
the broadband, and I am paying about $81/mo for the MVPD service.

2. I don't want all of the crap I am paying for now. We watch less than 20 of
the more than 100 channels we get now.

So the BIF IF is whether the new Apple service will offer all or most of the
channels we want. Sling and Sony do not.

If Apple offers what we want for $40/mo, we cut the cord.

Craig

What is hilarious about this Bert?

The article provided some real numbers about the cost of the content.

Really funny.

If Apple comes up with a business model that offers people the content they
want at about half the price of Comcast or Cox, I'll be laughing all the way
to the bank.
