Yup. And why are they interested in doing this?

MONEY.

As opposed to what, Craig? The owners of content are ALWAYS looking for ways to 
make more money, as opposed to letting opportunities slip by. The streaming 
market is increasing, the legacy options are stagnant or in decline, so it's a 
no-brainer.

In case you have not noticed Bert, Netflix and Amazon have paid
the content congloms billions for the rights to stream their
library content.

Which is precisely why content owners are so interested in this new medium. So 
I ask again, as opposed to what?

Connected TVs and streaming boxes, not to mention PCs, are being used 
increasingly to stream content to TV big screens. So Craig's assumption that 
"watching on TVs" equates to using old technologies simply doesn't work 
anymore. As this article shows, the owners of content are making the 
transition, because it is in their best interest.
