But this is just a case of differences in opinion about the best way to use a standard that is now becoming irrelevant.
In the real world, devices now negotiate with the source to provide a version that is optimized for the device capabilities AND the delivery pipes.
Interlace barely exists in this brave new world. One can easily see the difference in sources acquired with interlaced sampling versus progressive.
