have any number of sources. They only might hold when you are beholden to a
*single gatekeeper*.
About 90 million U.S. Homes WILLINGLY pay for these bundles.
And falling. ESPN revenues aren't going down because this "lynchpin" idea of
yours is so credible.
Let me try this: Why are the content congloms recreating the
extended basic bundle via all of these competing VMVPD
services?
Because they aren't. On the other hand, they HAVE been making their content
available over any number of different sites, which bear no resemblance at all
to your much beloved MVPD bundles. Only you can be so stuck in that past
formula, Craig, to keep up this "VMVPD" propaganda you keep pushing.
Subscription streaming TV services such as DirecTV Now, Hulu
and Sling TV are becoming as valuable in distributing ESPN as
traditional pay-TV services, Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger
said Tuesday.
Let me decipher this for Craig. New OTT sites, such as Sling TV, which bear no
resemblance to previous monopolistic take-'em-or-leave-'em bloated and
expensive bundles, are the future. Iger has discovered that his old notions of
not allowing his "the bundle" to unravel are ... old notions. That's why he got
onto Sling TV. That's why he is examining other new models.
No one is duplicating the old way on the Internet, Craig, simply because that's
not why people are cutting the cord. Sling TV looks NOTHING like your old
ideas, and there are plenty of very successful OTT sites that do not carry
ESPN. Surprise!
You have to keep up with the times.
