Bert, Bert, Bert.
With your lame rhetoric about “crooked Chairman” Pai you’re starting to sound
like I did regarding COFDM.
If you want to quote the article I posted, quote this, which sums up my
argument to you for the past year plus:
Net neutrality didn’t take effect until 2015 and was repealed in June 2018,
meaning nearly the entire history of the internet existed without net
neutrality. The sky wasn’t falling then, and it certainly isn’t now.
Get it? Obama’s Net Neutrality rules implemented with his “pen and a phone”
when Congress didn’t pass the legislation he wanted lasted just under three
years, not 100.
Happy New Year, Bert!

Why, John? This is too fundamental to let a corrupt government official get
away with it. The vast majority of citizens get it, John, and the FCC is
supposed to work for the people, not for ~ five special interests.
When FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced late last year that the so-called
"net neutrality" regulations imposed during the Obama administration
would be repealed, the Chicken Little Brigade came out in full force.
First of all, it wasn't "the Obama administration." Telecom neutrality has been
sacrosanct for over a century. And the FCC itself, never mind the public, had
understood long ago that the Internet is a telecom service. The FCC defined it
as such. Advanced telecom service, from way back in the 1990s.
Secondly, forget the chicken littles. Facts are facts, no matter who "comes out
in full force." Don't make this "guilt by association." It's just common sense.
Third, this crooked Chairman has plainly gone out and said that he is okay with
telecoms blocking and throttling. In fact, it even extends to texting service,
as far as he's concerned. All of which is unconscionable. The public wants none
of that. Only the special interests do, and corrupt public officials who either
benefit directly today, or hope to benefit in due course.
So, what's happened since? Has the sky come crashing down?
Early days still, and already that article points out one example of
non-neutral behavior. Read it more carefully. (And never mind, the special
interests already played those games in the past.)
This is the situation now. We continue to see any number of articles explaining
how channels are blacked out in legacy cable service. What's different today,
about these blackouts? They cause people to cut the cord in droves!! Because
people have options now. What's the answer, for the special interests? Allow
blocking and degrading of Internet services. Take those options away from
people.
Duh, John. As much as the Dems are no better than the pinhead yahoos on the
extreme right, if this Congress can neuter our corrupt public officials, I'll
be grateful to them.
Bert
