The article makes a good point. This Chairman shirked his responsibility as FCC
Chairman, the states have a perfect right to pre-empt this sort of government
corruption. What should be illegal is corruption in public office, not states
that refuse to buckle under it.
Matter of fact, the federal government is supposed to override states in order
to promote interstate commerce. Not in order to throttle interstate commerce.
It's a crying shame that the yahoo Republicans currently in Congress don’t wake
up. There's nothing partisan about expecting the telecoms to be strictly
neutral. This has nothing to do with regulating what Netflix can offer, or
Facebook, or any other web site.
"Unlike Pai's FCC, California isn't run by the big telecom and cable
companies," Wiener also said.
"Since the FCC says it no longer has any authority to protect an open Internet,
it's also the case that the FCC lacks the legal power to preempt states from
protecting their residents and economy," Wiener said.
Exactly. This guy gets it, at least. The businesses that use the Internet are
not what net neutrality is regulating. Why doesn't he open the dictionary and
look up the word "neutrality"? The FCC has had this responsibility for its
entire existence, and this Chairman is the first one who is slack-jawed amazed
by this.
There's a point when stubborn cluelessness might just be stupidity.
