Nothing we haven't already talked about on here.

I guess you could call it the realization of a dream. Like Frank, I spent two decades educating folks in the TV industry about emerging technologies that would fundamentally change the ways in which we consume media content. All of this was apparent in 1992 when I got involved in the U.S. Advanced Television standards process.

The following is from a Videography Closing Comment published in December of 1992. The quote is from an article published in the April 1932 issue of "Modern Mechanics and Inventions," written by David Sarnoff.

"When television has fulfilled its ultimate destiny, a man's sense of physical limitation will be swept away, and his boundaries of sight and hearing will be the limits of the earth itself." If we have learned anything during the past 60 years of preparation for the information age, surely it must be that when we focus our collective energy on a well defined task, America can realize it's wildest dreams. Consider the ideas expressed as "science fiction" by Jules Verns at the turn of the century--and the realization of those dreams with Apollo 11 in 1969. Sarnoff dreamed of extending our vision to the farthest corners of the earth--we reached the moon--and saw it as it happened! Can we afford to dream of anything less than making it possible for individuals to share their visions with anyone . . . anytime . . . anywhere?
