Until I got to your last sentence, I didn't understand whether you were
trying to make a point.

On what basis would you support the last sentence? I disagree
completely. My point was only to speculate that diversity antennas
should improve 8-VSB far more than they improve COFDM, when there are
narrow but very deep nulls in the 6 MHz spectrum.

The reason is simple. If the null is narrow enough, the C part of COFDM
will permit that null to be ignored even without diversity antennas.
Whereas 8-VSB could become undecypherable.

As to why no one makes such boxes that you can buy on a shelf, the
reason is exactly the same as why we still have to buy 3rd gen ATSC
STBs. It's because people here prefer to be suckered into TV
subscription schemes and/or retailers here prefer to steer people in
that direction automatically.
