You and Doug keep missing it.

One size will never fit all again. Of course broadcasters need to aim 
higher than NTSC. But optimizing for the best receivers is absurd, 
especially when 720P can deliver high quality to virtually all 

1080i is a joke, as the MPEG-2 tools are not efficient enough to 
handle 2 Mpixel formats, and interlace is a crude form of compression 
that causes a loss in picture quality.

You can focus on the number of home runs that a baseall player hits, 
or their batting average.

There is more value with a good average than a few big hits.
