I wouldn't say you have no choice.  There are a couple of rounds of channel 
declarations to go through, so chances are you can find a compatible in-core 
UHF in most markets.  The real question is if you have a high VHF NTSC and 
an in-core UHF DTV, do you even want to stay on UHF and deal with those 
power bills forever?

If you are a top 30 Network affiliate station, by the time the transition is 
completed your UHF transmitter will be at least 10 and maybe closer to 15 
years old anyway.
