Bert,

Your calculations do not take into account the effects of using MPEG-2 coding at equal bitrates. I think you'll find the real world differences between 1080i30 and 720p60 to be much less that 12.5%, and the macroblocking artifacts on stressful scenes to be worse on the 1080i30 material, blowing the viewing experience no mater how much better a subsequent static scene looks.
