Here's your update on life at Old Union, and how you can be part of it!
1. On Saturday, November 9 a team from Old Union will take part in ALIVE
<https://www.livingministry.org/alive-volunteer>, a festival for the
homeless which will be held at Allegheny Commons Park on Pittsburgh's North
Side. Hundreds of volunteers will take part in clothing giveaways, crafts,
fellowship, food, games, prayer, and social services. We will leave from
Old Union at 7:00 AM, and return at about 3:00. Please reply to this email
or sign up in the church lobby if you'd like to join us.
2. We will hold our annual congregational meeting after worship on Sunday,
November 10. We will elect officers, vote on the pastor’s proposed terms
of call, and receive financial reports, including the budget. (If you are
the treasurer of a church organization, please bring your financial report
to church this Sunday, so it can be included in the meeting information
packet.)
3. PRISM <http://www.prismpgh.org/hosting.html> (Pittsburgh Region
International Student Ministry) is seeking families to invite
international students to join them for their Thanksgiving celebration.
This helps students learn more about American culture, and to experience a
Christian family atmosphere. Follow this link

4. Thanks for the many generous donations we've already received for the
teenage boy students in need at Butler High School! We are continuing to
collect shampoo, deodorant, and underwear. Please drop them off in the
Lighthouse bin in the lobby.
5. If you are an elder or deacon and would like to learn how to serve home
communion, you're invited to attend a half-hour training session, which
will be led by our pastor. It will be held at the Park Presbyterian Church
in Zelienople (where Peter is moderating their session until their new
pastor arrives), this Monday (October 28) at 7:00. Please reply to this
email or speak with Peter if you plan to attend.
6. Westminster Presbyterian Church in Evans City s offering two safety
events in November. On the morning of Saturday November 9 they will host
Active Threat/Shooter training and Stop the Bleed training, and on the
morning of Saturday November 16 they will host ALICE training, to learn how
to respond when encountering an active shooter. Reply to this email or
check out the flyers on the church bulletin board for more information.
7. We look forward to having you be part of our worship on Sunday morning
at 11:00! The choir will sing "This I Pray," and our hymns will include
"Your Name," "Who Is on the Lord's Side?" and "Swee Hour of Prayer."
Peter's sermon will be based on Genesis 1:26-31, and our concluding
affirmation will be the first question and answer from the Heidelberg
Catechism <https://www.rca.org/resources/heidelbergcatechism>, instead of
the Apostles' Creed.
