Murray – “Ministers playing games with jobs and livelihoods”
The Government are continuing to claim that we should disregard the conclusions
of their secret studies into the impact of Brexit because it does not include
their “favoured option” of a trade deal with the EU.
Yet today also sees the second day of the Cabinet Brexit sub-committee‘s
meeting which is attempting to thrash out what the government’s position on a
“favoured option” actually is.
Commenting, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“Ministers claim that we should disregard their secret study into the impact of
different types of Brexit because it doesn’t include analysis of their favoured
option.
“But how can they claim they have a favoured option when, on the same day, the
Cabinet’s Brexit Committee is meeting in a desperate attempt to reach some sort
of agreement?
“Only one of the two things said by the Government can be true. They cannot
both have a favoured option and still be trying to decide what their favoured
option is. They are playing games with people’s jobs and livelihoods.
“It is time this disgraceful insult to our collective intelligence was ended
and the studies were published in full and without redaction.”
