Murray – Brexit threatens fight against crime
The Lord Advocate has warned of the damage a hard Brexit could do to law
enforcement in Scotland.
Commenting, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“The Lord Advocate’s comments show that Theresa May’s plans for a hard and
destructive Brexit threaten much more than our economy.
"One of the most critical aspects of our relationship with Europe is
co-operation on crime, defence and security and putting that at risk would be a
grave mistake.
“Drug runners, people smugglers and terrorists might be the only winners if we
crash out of European Union with no deal.
“As new facts about the costs and risks of Brexit continue to come to light,
people have every right to keep an open mind about whether Brexit is the right
choice for the United Kingdom.”
