I walked a little-used trail through Oak Island today and enjoyed a large
number of Tree Swallows pairing up working cavities, many House Wren
vigorously defending territory, and (strangely) a single Savannah Sparrow
calling from deep within the woodlot, 10 feet off the ground from its perch
on an oak tree.
