Hi OBOL folks
Today I birdied the Drift Creek & Larch Mtn road areas. These are in eastern
Tillamook County in the upper Wilson River watershed. It was a good day for
west side mountain gallinaceous birds, although increasing wind in the
afternoon slowed things down. Highlights were:
1-RUFFED GROUSE, drumming
3-SOOTY GROUSE, hooting singles at different locations, ridges in higher areas.
2-MOUNTAIN QUAIL, one calling repeatedly in response to playback and one
sprinting across the road, in early seral areas (aka clear cuts).
2-GRAY JAY, came into whistled Northern Pygmy-owl call.
1-RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER
All the best birding
