Monday April 13 saw VAUX'S SWIFT and BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER for the first
time this year. There was a SNOW GOOSE and a bright male EURASIAN WIGEON
towards the north end of Wapato Marsh. Lots of Violet-green Swallows along
with Cliff, Tree and a few Northern Rough-winged Swallows. Cackling geese and
Golden-crowned sparrows still around.
Visitors walking the riparian trail and kingfisher marsh trails may notice five
newly installed track traps - areas of sand where we have so far captured the
tracks of opossum, coyote, raccoon, brush rabbit, mink, spotted towhee and
golden-crowned sparrow. The track traps are for educational purposes as well
as general interest.
Happy spring birding
