Diane Cavaness and I noticed a couple of egrets in the same area about ten days
back, so they are probably locals. Given that other western Oregon egrets are
sitting already, these Eugene birds should be tracked.

After dropping my son off at the Eugene Airport this morning, I went S on

status of the at least 4 Great Egrets foraging out in the wetland there.
Given the timing, my first guess is that they are nesting somewhere within a
few miles. One way to figure that out--if you have the time--is to watch
their travels to/from their foraging locations, especially at dawn and dusk.
A colony at inland Lane Co. woud be a first as far as I know. They are
certainly expanding on the coast.

Are there egrets out and about in other W Eugene locations right now?
