This is not a pure Clark’s. The bill color is not right and the dark feathering
comes down and touches and partially encircles the eye.
The face pattern is somewhat suggestive of a hybrid, but with this bill color I
am wondering if this is just a young Western. When IDing Clark’s the first
thing that I look for is bill color. Orangish-yellow on Clark’s and straw
yellow-green as seen here on Western.

I would call the grebe in this excellent photo a Clark's Grebe.
What do you think?
