8. VII. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS 1. Regular attendance is necessary to ensure
the mission of OBE is executed in the most effective manner.
2. Members are required to attend a minimum of 70% of weekly meetings, the
percentage to be calculated monthly on the basis of the members' attendance
over the previous 6 months.
3. The Attendance Director shall issue a quarterly report to the membership
setting out each member's attendance percentage.
4. A member who is personally absent from a meeting, but has a guest or
replacement person from their business attend in their place, is deemed to
have attended the meeting. A person may not be counted as attending for more
than one business at a meeting.
5. A member who fails to meet the minimum attendance requirements set out in
paragraph VII(2) may risk losing their OBE membership. The member will be
notified by the Attendance Director and will have 30 days (one month) to: a)
Bring their attendance up to / or above the 70% requirement; or
b) Deliver to the Executive a written application requesting to maintain
their membership with a commitment to meet the 70% requirement in future and
a $50.00 penalty payment. If the application is accepted by the Executive,
the member's attendance will reset to start as of their first meeting back.
6. Failure to fulfill either of the 5(a) or (b) will result in automatic
removal from the OBE membership on the 31st day at which time the member
would then have to re-apply for membership following regular procedures.
7. A member may apply to the Executive for a "leave of absence" during which
time all membership privileges will continue, but the member's attendance
obligations will be waived and the member will be recorded as present for
all meetings during the approved leave of absence. The applicant's
membership must be in good standing at the time of the request and remain in
good standing during the period of leave. Membership fees will not be
refunded for the period of time of any approved leave of absence. The
application must be in writing setting out: a) The reasons for the request;
and
b) The time period for the requested leave of absence and return date.
